India’s ambition to emerge as a global semiconductor hub will be in sharp focus on March 1, when the third edition of the Semiconnect Conference is hosted at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar.
According to an official statement, the high-profile gathering will bring together global industry leaders, policymakers, and technology experts to discuss the future of semiconductor manufacturing and innovation in the country. Several international CEOs are expected to attend, underlining India’s growing relevance in the global chip ecosystem.
Major players from the electronics and semiconductor space—including Micron, Tata Electronics, CG Semi, and Kaynes—will be present along with their global partners, the government said.
The conference is being jointly organised by the Department of Science and Technology and the Gujarat State Electronics Mission (GSEM). This year’s theme, “Gujarat: India’s Gateway to Silicon,” reflects the state’s push to position itself as a preferred destination for semiconductor research, manufacturing, and allied industries.
The event will also see the participation of key government leaders, including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, highlighting the Centre–state alignment on building a strong semiconductor ecosystem.
Spanning two days, the conference agenda includes keynote addresses, focused panel discussions, and international roundtables. Conversations will cover next-generation chip research, manufacturing capabilities, supply-chain logistics, and export readiness of emerging hubs such as Dholera Special Investment Region and Sanand. Workforce development and skill creation for future semiconductor needs will also be a key area of discussion.
As part of the programme, delegates will be taken on a guided visit to the Dholera Special Investment Region, offering a first-hand look at the infrastructure being developed to support large-scale semiconductor and electronics manufacturing.
With strong participation from global companies and senior policymakers, the conference is expected to reinforce India’s long-term vision of becoming a competitive and reliable player in the global semiconductor value chain—without losing focus on manufacturing excellence, talent development, and sustainable growth.
